Anonymous asked: How does one become staff? How does one volunteer? I saw no information about staffing on the website, and it merely said to e-mail to inquire about volunteering, but didn't really tell me anything about being a volunteer.
There are announcements on not only Facebook but the website, of when we have meetings and where these meetings are so you are able to drop in, see how we work, and join if you wish. Volunteering is run as their own sector, and those who volunteer are divided and given to other directors as needed, for what they wish. Usually these needs are go-fors, room watchers, badge checkers, and sometimes contest help, however as said, it all depends on what that director or sector needs you for at that time.
It’s been a long winter here in Kansas City, including a couple weeks where we thought we were going to be snowed in, but that is no more! Sure, we’re looking at April showers, but that won’t put us down! It’s time to start talking about Motaku 2013 and we are pumped!
The tumblr page will be updated soon, but the new Facebook and Website has been up for a while now. We’ll be coming to you with a couple discount codes for staying with us and even a new tumblr contest, as well as guests, convention contests, and information all for 2013. So get your goggles, find some cogs, and let’s get our con on!
(You’ll have to forgive us, Tumblr is being a butt and not letting us reply to questions!)
In short, no. Each year has a theme, such as steam punk, which the artist, yourself, is able to take as they wish, and create as they wish, making their own characters for what they deem appropriate. Happy contesting!
The Yaoi Addiction Society will be participating in AIDS WALK Kansas City on April 27, 2013. We will be participating in several charitable causes, this being one of the first. It is a good way to help out others, as well as getting our name out there.
You can join our team or donate at http://www.firstgiving.com/aidswalkkc.

As disheartening as the vandalism was, we understand that that was one person’s actions and have no reason or want to ever ban Homestuck cosplay from Motaku. We love all our attendees and hope that you have a good time, just like anyone else. We are taking care of the issue that happened this weekend with the hotel and all is being worked out. Thank you for your concern, and we hope to hear and see all of you soon!
Our 2012 registration count is in, we had 958 total attendees! We can’t wait to see you all next year, and don’t forget to bring your friends!
So are we! Head on over to facebook and join the 2013 group.
Thank you all for attending Motaku this year. We hope you enjoyed your experience!
While we realize not everything can be to everyone’s standards, we’d like to at least thank you for attending, whether attendee, artist, vendor, or something else. You were all wonderful and we loved having you! Sorry for any problems you experienced.
Hope to see you there next year!
